and Values

Our Story
Hand in the Dark began with a book.
Written by founder Owen Marrett, Hand in the Dark grew from a simple idea: when life changes in an instant, we rarely get through it alone.
Behind the diagnosis, the fear and the difficult days are people who stay. Friends, family, carers and sometimes complete strangers whose kindness becomes unforgettable.
What began on the page became something bigger.
Hand in the Dark was created to recognise those people, share their stories and turn that recognition into awareness and fundraising for cancer charities.
Our mission
Hand in the Dark uses storytelling and creative campaigns to raise awareness of cancer, recognise the people who stand beside us through life’s darkest moments, and raise funds for established cancer charities.
Each campaign supports a selected charity, allowing the organisations already doing vital work to continue supporting people and families affected by cancer.
How we help
Hand in the Dark does not operate its own frontline services.
Instead, we create stories, projects and campaigns that generate awareness and funding for established cancer charities.
100% of profits from our campaigns are donated to the charity supported by that campaign.
